- L is for Leanne
Leanne Scherp
Leanne loves the ocean.
She is a Kiwi from Auckland, a city located on a skinny neck of land between the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans. That means beaches everywhere. Summer barbecues and swimming at the beach are some of her favourite memories of her hometown.
She also remembers large family gatherings at her grandparents house and her grandfather’s slide shows of his travels in India and Pakistan. Leanne has an adventurous spirit and loves travel. She lived in Japan for 6 years, has traveled to Thailand and Indonesia, has hiked the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, been mountain biking in Bolivia as well as bungy jumping and skydiving in NZ, caving in the UK and diving in Okinawa.
When not seeking adventure, she loves to slow down and enjoy the little things – like the way the late summer sun shines through the trees at dusk or how quickly the clouds change. She could stare at the sea for hours. There is always something special to look for.
Leanne has has lived in Vancouver since 2003. She loves Vancouver’s seawall and the way the mountains reach the ocean. She loves that particular shade of green the trees here have and marvels at the distinct seasons. Among her favorite places in and around Vancouver are the seawall and trails of Stanley Park and a small spot about halfway down Whistler mountain (the view is spectacular!).
She has always enjoyed taking photos of people and places and capturing the relationship of things. She shoots lifestyle photography: weddings and events, maternity, baby and family portraits in Vancouver.
Leanne is the “L” around here. She loves her job and couldn’t imagine doing anything else.
- S is for Susannah
Susannah Street
Susannah loves trees.
Her love of nature was instilled in her as a child – she was taken on her first camping trip at a mere 3 months old. One of her earliest childhood memories is riding on her father’s shoulders through the forest shouting “Yippee for Trees!”
Born in Victoria, Susannah has lived in many parts of Canada but still calls the West Coast home. She loves camping, running in Stanley Park, snowboarding and getting back to nature.
Susannah has had many adventures abroad including studying shiatsu and aikido under a Japanese master in Kyoto, Japan, teaching Sri Lankan kids dodge ball while on a cultural exchange and riding an elephant in a thunderstorm in Thailand (the last picture taken on her Nikon Coolpix before it drowned was the amazing approaching storm).
She loves the open mindedness that comes from meeting different people and different cultures and firmly believes that a sense of humour will save the day.
When she’s not taking photos or shooting video, Susannah loves fiction. She is a 3 time veteran of NaNoWriMo and believes that there is always a story to tell. Her favourite writers are Jack London and John Steinbeck. She loves stories that explore human nature, especially those with a positive spin.
Oh, and she loves to cook.
Susannah is the “S” of “LS Photography” She shoots weddings and events with Leanne and also shoots Head Shots, both actors and corporate. Check out our dedicated Headshot site at Headshots in Vancouver.
- The LS Style
Our Wedding coverage is documentary style with a little artistic portraiture thrown in.
We have been described by some clients as the Dynamic Duo. This is because we are everywhere, covering as much as we can so that you don’t miss a thing, yet we do it in an unobtrusive way so that you and your guests may not even notice we are there. We have shot weddings together for over 5 years and so we have rock solid teamwork and ninja-like stealth. Well, not really ninja-like, but you get the idea.
When it comes to the “formal” part of your day, for us it’s all about you. We keep things as relaxed as possible so that you can enjoy yourselves and your time together. We may give a little direction as needed, but our main aim is to create real life portraits of you and your love. No stiff poses and forced smiles here.
We have a pretty laid back approach to photography. We don’t get stressed out and we are not divas; we’re here to bring a chill vibe to what can be a crazy hectic day. We both have a lot of experience in different fast paced, evolving jobs, multi tasking and being adaptable. Because of this we know when to take control and when to go with the flow. You can trust that your photography is in good hands, whatever the situation.
We accept a limited number of weddings each year to ensure that we can focus on you and your wedding. Why? Because we care. We care about you, your day and your photography. Our aim is to create a stunning set of images, delivered from our hearts to yours.
Our portraits sessions work in a similar way.
Whether your photography session is in our Vancouver studio or at a location of your choice in the Lower Mainland, we create a relaxed, comfortable shooting environment where you can be yourself.
We want to capture the real you, to create artistic portraits of you and your family, images that you will cherish forever.
We are looking forward to meeting you.

- The LS Studio
Welcome to the LS Photography Studio
The LS Photography studio, located in the cool and funky SOMA district of Vancouver, is where we consult with our wedding clients and also where we do our studio shoots. We aim to offer a friendly and welcoming environment – somewhere you can kick off your shoes and relax.
The studio is on street level and has good wheelchair access. It has 16 foot ceilings, a full washroom and kitchen area. It has a CD player and ipod connector so feel free to bring some tunes!
We are fully equipped with studio lighting and the studio also has a full wall of floor to ceiling frosted windows so we can shoot with natural light in a private setting.
The studio is home to two quiet art-loving cats so if you have cat allergies, please let us know when you book so we can reserve and set up in a separate space.
There is usually plenty of free street parking in front of the building and on the side streets.
Studio Sessions:
Our studio portrait style is predominantly B&W but we do enjoy a bit of colour too. We’ll always have a chat before we get started, so let us know what your preference is and what you are looking for.
We use three sets in the shoot – black and white seamless paper and a vintage cloth backdrop. We’ll move about between the sets to get variety in the images. For maternity and baby sessions we like to shoot black on black and white on white, so please make sure you bring simple plain clothing - jeans and yoga pants, black and white tops, T-shirts or tanks, sports bras. Partners – you’ll be part of the shoot too, so don’t forget your blacks and whites.
Boudoir girls – go shopping! Bring in a variety of lingerie and we’ll take a look when you get here to see what will work best. Don’t forget to accessorise. Earrings, necklaces, shoes and boots all work well. “His” clothes – a shirt, jeans or hockey jersey etc can also work well.
The studio has some pieces of fabric we can use in the shoot, but we encourage you to bring anything you’d like to incorporate into your session. For babies or little ones this could be a favourite toy, the touque Grandma knitted or that itty bitty Canuck’s jersey.
Head Shots – we will shoot in the LS Photography studio for part of “The Double Whammy” and “The Reel Deal” Packages. For more information please visit our Head Shot specific site at Head Shots in Vancouver.
Location Sessions:
For outdoor shoots – engagements sessions, family portraits or pet photography, we prefer to shoot at a location of your choice. Whether it be a park, the beach, a mountain top, an urban alleyway or your own backyard, we feel that the location we shoot in should mean something to you. Express yourself in your environment. For kids and pets, somewhere that they can run around and have fun is a must.
All actor’s Head Shots will incorporate natural light shooting in an outdoor covered area behind the studio. The light is consistent and we can shoot rain or shine.
Session Times:
All sessions are approximately one hour. Baby sessions are a little more flexible with time due to feeding and changing breaks so allow an hour and a half. If you have to change a session time please call us 24 hours in advance.
Our time is valuable to us so please be on time!
