For Halloween I went to the Haunted Village at the Burnaby Village Museum. It was really cool. Massive amounts of time and energy went into the creation and set up of the exhibits and the staff and volunteers really got into it which was awesome. There was so much to see that I had a hard time picking images to share, but here is a bit of an overview.
Volunteers and staff getting into costumes and make up….

The first visitors waiting for the Museum to open…
The buildings were decorated inside and out. This is Love Farmhouse which became a house of witches for the weekend.

There were vampires at the (Blood) Bank….
…and in the General Store.
Elworth House was transformed into a Funeral Parlour….
…and there were also un-dead at the Zombie Cafe…..
…with some interesting items on the menu….
The Bakery had some special Halloween delicacies…
The displays around the Village were very cool…
Mummies at Bell’s Dry Goods (dry goods – get it?)

Here’s the Ghost Tram…
A Gargoyle outside Elworth…
Limbs everywhere!
Along with the amazing decor and fabulously dressed Volunteers and Interpreters there were on-site entertainers including a Mummy on stilts..
…a fire juggling Devil…
…and a Vampire DJ, playing tunes for the Vampire Ball.
This was super fun, with the Belle of the Vampire Ball leading a parade down the Main St which then turned into dancing, with kids and adults joining in.

For those wanting something a little less spooky, Brookfield Hall was host to a Storyteller with kid based interactive tales.
Friendly clowns were based in the activity room by the Carousel with un-scary games for the little ones needing a break as well.
The ghostly Carousel offered unlimited rides for all and was, as always, hugely popular.
There were 6 places for Trick or Treating each with a different theme and lots of candy. Everyone had a great time with tons to see and do.
Happy Halloween!
